The mission of the Rye Junior High Community Garden is to teach lifelong skills, an appreciation for how food is grown and the importance of the healthy and sustainable practices that gardening fosters. The garden provides a classroom, art studio, science laboratory, kitchen garden and attractive place for reflection. ===

Volunteer Opportunities

  • Thank you to the volunteers, staff and students for th 16 gallons of cider that is all ready for Harvest Fest.

  • Harvest Soup - Volunteer to pick up a soup kit from RJH and make a crockpot of soup (18 volunteers) - Week of October 24 - 27

  • Baked goods for dessert table (unlimited) - Week of October 24 - 27.

  • Ugly Mug Drive - send in those ugly mugs! We are setting an example of sustainability and will not use any disposable dishes.

  • Displaying student art and writing. This will be a few days before the event during or after school (12 volunteers) date TBA.

  • Selling Harvest Fest Raffle tickets - October 3 - October 27 (two people to sell the night of the Harvest Fest).

  • Raffle tickets and 3 raffle prizes (6 volunteers).- Set up on Oct. 27th (8 volunteers).

  • Kitchen help during the event (10 volunteers).

  • Various Harvest Fest activities (8 volunteers).

  • Clean up at 8:30pm (12 volunteers).
